On Wednesday, Sept. 17, Villa Angela-St. Joseph High School President Tom Carone welcomed over 100 guests to the school for its annual President’s Reception. Attendees were treated to an outstanding dinner provided by our very own AVI Foodsystems, took tours of the school with VASJ Student Ambassadors, and enjoyed the camaraderie of VASJ faculty and staff, students, and other VASJ supporters.
One of the featured speakers of the evening, VASJ Senior Emmanuel Jordan told guests how much his VASJ education means to him and especially what our Viking supporters have taught him.
“They have taught me that no matter who you are or where you’re from, when you become a Viking, you are a Viking forever, and you have brothers and sisters looking out for you no matter what," he said. "I am truly blessed to have been granted the opportunity to attend VASJ, meet so many amazing people, and become part of this family. I am grateful for the donors and alumni for their generosity and contributions because, thanks to you, my classmates and I are able to have an amazing education and high school experience and learn what it means to be a Viking for life.”
Philip Paulin, St. Joseph alum from the Class of 1969, was joined by his family and honored for his instrumental design of what is now the VASJ atrium. A plaque will honor his contribution to VASJ in the new school atrium.
VASJ Principal Gregory Sedmak told the crowd how great the school year has been going so far, while Carone shared a brief update on all of the changes that have been made to the school building. He also discussed upcoming enhancements, including the demolition of the old bleachers and building of the new bleachers and press box, beginning in mid-October of this year.
Our thanks to the many alumni, parents, grandparents, faculty and staff, and friends who continue to support a Catholic educational opportunity to students in Northeast Ohio at Villa Angela-St. Joseph High School. We appreciate the ongoing commitment to our students and their families as we prepare these amazing young men and women to be our leaders of tomorrow.
