VASJ boys track team headed to states

Last weekend, the VASJ boys track team punched their ticket to states in three separate events. 

The excitement kicked off with the boys 4x100 meter relay team of Jeremiah Martin '25, Ardell Chatman '26, Ronnie Brown '27 and John Gibson '26 racing their way to become Regional Champions with a time of 42.53 seconds. The team broke the Regional record during prelims with a time of 41.63 seconds. 

Gibson continued the momentum by placing 4th in the 200 meter dash with a time of 22.74 seconds. To round out the meet, the 4x400 meter relay team consisting of Martin '25, Caleb Marshall '25, Darion Taylor '25 and Gibson '26 ran a season best of 3:23.81 to secure their spot to compete in Columbus. 

State competition begins Friday, June 6 at Jesse Owens Stadium in Columbus. Congratulations Vikings and good luck!
